## Questions

### What can I get a quote for?

Furniture for commercial projects in the United States, indoor and outdoor: hotels and resorts, restaurants and bars, colleges and schools, apartments and senior living, offices, health care, and parks and public spaces. A request can cover seating, tables, lounge furniture, casegoods (furniture built as boxes and panels, such as dressers and desks), storage and lockers, and shade and umbrellas. The [pages on each project type](https://contractfurniture.us/projects/) list what a request can include.

### Does it cost anything to send a request?

No. Sending a request is free and does not oblige you to buy anything.

### What should a request include?

The quantity of each item, the size or model, the finishes, the delivery ZIP code, the date the furniture has to be on site, whether it goes indoors or outdoors, and any standards the project has to meet. The [checklist for a quote request](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/furniture-quote-request-checklist/) goes through each one.

### Can I send drawings or a spec sheet?

The form takes no uploads. Put a link to a shared file or folder in the field for a spec sheet or plan.

### Can I request a quote through ChatGPT, Claude or another AI assistant?

Yes. Paste the prompt from the [page for AI assistants](https://contractfurniture.us/assistants/) into any assistant, or add the connector at https://contractfurniture.us/mcp to an assistant that accepts remote MCP servers. MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard many assistants use to connect to outside services.

### Which standards can a request name?

Any the project requires, such as a standard for seating, tables or storage from BIFMA, the trade association for business and institutional furniture makers, a fabric abrasion level from the Association for Contract Textiles, or the ADA dimensions for accessible tables. The [guide to standards for commercial furniture](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/commercial-furniture-standards/) lists them.

## Guides

- [Standards for commercial furniture](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/commercial-furniture-standards/): The BIFMA, ASTM, NFPA and ACT standards and the federal rules that commercial furniture is specified and tested to, with what each one covers and who publishes it.
- [Accessible tables, counters and benches](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/accessible-tables-counters-benches/): The 2010 ADA Standards set how many dining and work surfaces must be accessible, their height, the knee and toe clearance under them, and the size of a required bench. The federal ABA Standards add rules for picnic tables.
- [What to include in a furniture quote request](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/furniture-quote-request-checklist/): The details that let a commercial furniture quote be priced the first time: quantities, specifications, finishes, standards, delivery and installation, the schedule and the budget.
- [What contract grade means](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/what-contract-grade-means/): Contract grade is a seller's claim that furniture is built for commercial use. A buyer can check it against a BIFMA test report, the fabric's abrasion test, the federal flammability label, the tip-over rule for dressers and the written warranty.
- [What contract furniture is and how buying it works](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/what-is-contract-furniture/): Contract furniture is furniture made and sold for commercial, institutional and hospitality use. Organizations buy it through a dealer quote, directly from a manufacturer, from a GSA schedule contract or from a cooperative purchasing contract such as Sourcewell, OMNIA Partners or Pennsylvania's COSTARS.
- [Commercial pool furniture: what to specify and how to get a quote](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/commercial-pool-furniture/): What to specify for chaise lounges, sling and strap chairs, cushions, side tables and umbrellas on a commercial pool deck: the deck clearances in the CDC's model code and the ADA, frame finishes near chlorine and salt water, the ASTM standards for plastic chaises and chairs, and a checklist to paste into a quote request.
- [Hotel FF&E budget per key](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/hotel-ffe-budget-per-key/): FF&E per guest room by hotel segment from the 2026 HVS U.S. Hotel Development Cost Survey and Marriott's 2026 franchise disclosure documents, with what the budget line covers and a worked example for a 120-room hotel.
- [Commercial outdoor furniture: a buying guide](https://contractfurniture.us/guides/commercial-outdoor-furniture/): How powder-coated aluminum, steel, teak, HDPE lumber, resin wicker and concrete compare for upkeep, weather and wind on patios, restaurant terraces, campuses and rooftops, with umbrella base weights from a manufacturer's catalog and the standards that cover outdoor furniture.
